FAQ Eyelid Lift

How can we help?

The Most Frequently Asked Questions About Eyelid Lift

In the vast majority of cases, a local anesthetic is sufficient to perform the eyelid lift, especially for a lift of the upper eyelids. Only rarely do patients express a desire for anesthesia or light twilight sleep within an upper eyelid lift. In the case of a combination of upper eyelid and lower eyelid lift, primarily lying on the operating table for the slightly longer duration of the operation is uncomfortable for some patients. In these cases, it may be reasonable to perform the procedure under twilight sleep anesthesia.
During the consultation, we will explain the options and the procedure of eyelid lift in detail. On the basis of an information sheet or during the personal consultation, all questions regarding the various procedures and the usual course after the operation can be addressed. During the initial consultation, a photo documentation of the initial findings is usually made for later comparison.
Eyelid lift is a relatively minor surgical procedure that is not very stressful. In principle, eyelid lifting can be performed on all patients who are in good general health and suffer from eyelid drooping.
In eyelid lifting, the operation is limited to the eyelids. However, many patients also have lowered eyebrows. These patients also require an eyebrow lift to restore the eyebrow to an anatomically correct position. For patients who suffer from bags under the eyes due to kidney disease or allergies, eyelid lift may not produce the desired result.
Eyelid lift, also called blepharoplasty, is a cosmetic surgical procedure performed on the eyelid. This procedure can optimize the appearance of the upper eyelid and the lower eyelid. Upper eyelid blepharoplasty removes skin, fatty tissue, and possibly a small amount of muscle in the area of the eye socket. Lower eyelid blepharoplasty effectively removes bags under the eyes, which are caused by sagging skin or fatty tissue. The lower eyelid lift can be performed through an incision in the area of the eyelashes or, in some cases, from the inside of the lower eyelid, which results in no externally visible incision. We will be happy to explain the various methods in detail during a personal consultation. The result of an eyelid lift looks completely natural and gives you a new, younger appearance.
