DENTAL CROWN
Dental crowns provide a natural and permanent restoration of damaged teeth so you can smile again quickly. A dental crown can be used to protect a damaged tooth by completely enclosing it. To place a dental crown, the tooth is reduced to a stump. The dental crown is bonded to this stump. We specialize in natural looking materials in tooth color, mostly made of zirconium. Zirconia crowns are all-ceramic crowns with a ceramic core made of zirconia and a ceramic veneer. Zirconium is the most advanced material, which is excellent both aesthetically and in terms of longevity, as it is very similar to natural teeth in terms of color, transparency and durability.
For our treatment, we use only high quality material combined with years of experience, knowledge and the latest technology to provide you with the best possible tooth replacement.
Who Are Dental Crowns Suitable For?
Dental crowns are suitable for the treatment of large holes in the tooth, for teeth after root canal treatment and for broken or damaged teeth.
Dental crowns are not recommended when the root substance is no longer suitable.
Time Required
Patients can leave the clinic immediately after the dental treatment. The time required depends on the type of dental crowns and the time needed to make them in the laboratory. Dental crowns made in the laboratory take up to 5 days if many teeth are treated at the same time. Therefore, the average length of stay in Turkey is about 5 days.
Before Inserting Dental Crowns
Sometimes a root canal treatment of the tooth may be required first before the crown is placed. This means that the tissue in the root of the tooth is removed and a root filling or post build-up is inserted.
How Is The Treatment Carried Out?
The dentist must grind down and reduce the original size of the tooth so that the crown can be placed on it. Then an impression of the mouth is taken and the crown is made in the laboratory specifically for the patient. This takes about 5 days. The crown is then placed in its intended location.
Treatment time: Preparation of the tooth, making an impression and fitting the temporary crown usually takes about 1 hour. At the next appointment, the actual crown is placed. Since the tooth must be cleaned and dried, and the applied adhesive should dry completely, this appointment can take up to 1 hour.
After The Placement Of Dental Crowns
Patients should wait a few hours until their next meal immediately after the crown is placed. Certain foods, such as hard or sticky sweets, should be avoided in the long term as they may loosen the crown.
Most patients do not suffer pain after having a crown placed. However, since part of the treatment involves the patient’s tooth undergoing root canal therapy, the patient may suffer from increased sensitivity of the tooth for some time after the treatment due to the root canal therapy that has taken place.
Possible Risks
Inflammation of the tooth is a possible risk.
