FOX EYES FOR AN INTENSE LOOK
Attractive eyes and a deep, sensual look have always been part of our ideal of beauty. One form of treatment that has become increasingly popular in recent years is fox eye surgery or cat eye surgery. Through a minor surgical procedure, the outer ends of the eye are slightly lifted, giving the eyes a more expressive look.
Although the name of the treatment suggests a purely aesthetic procedure, this operation is also performed by eye surgeons to correct deformities in the eyes. Such an operation is suitable, for example, for patients who have problems closing their eyelids after facial paralysis. Often, the procedure is also used to reconstruct droopy and not fully closed lower eyelids due to trauma or previous surgery (e.g. failed aesthetic surgery on the lower eyelid).
Who Is Fox Eye Surgery Suitable For?
This procedure is suitable for aesthetic correction of the shape of the eyes, but also for deformities of the eyes due to disease, injury or previous surgery.
Time Required
After the procedure, the patient can leave our clinic the same day. The stitches are removed after about 3 to 4 days, so it is advisable for the patient to stay in Istanbul until then.
Before the Fox Eye Surgery
While maintaining the vision and eyelid function in the appropriate facial structure, it is possible to achieve a more attractive appearance with this type of procedure. As with all procedures related to the eyes, a detailed eye examination must be performed prior to such procedures. For an optimal result, such a procedure should be performed exclusively by an experienced doctor in the field of oculoplastics, i.e. a specialist in procedures related to the tissues around the eye.
How Is the Fox Eye Surgery Carried Out?
The main task of fox eye surgery is to slightly change the inclination of the eyelids. For this purpose, the junction of the eyelids on the ear side is moved, namely 1 or 2 millimeters above the original position. The connection of the eyelids on the ear side is usually also anatomically 1 to 2 millimeters above the connection on the nose side, which has an effect on the natural tear flow, for example. Differences in eye position result from various factors, such as genetic predisposition, age and individual facial structure.
We perform fox eye surgery to make the eye area more attractive without affecting the harmony and symmetry of the eye and the person’s facial structure. The procedure is performed under local anesthesia with minimal incisions around the edges of the eyelids. Because the incisions are made on natural lines around the eyes, there is usually no scar visible after healing.
Duration of treatment and anesthesia: The procedure is performed under local anesthesia and takes about 30 minutes.
After the Procedure
Just as with an eyelid lift, patients can immediately resume normal vision and daily activities after surgery. No pain, only mild pain is expected, but it will subside quickly. In the first few days after surgery, the affected area may experience bruising, swelling and mild itching. Cooling the eyes and caring for them with moisturizing eye drops and special ointments will quickly alleviate the discomfort.
Work can be resumed after about 3 days. However, sports or physically strenuous work must be avoided for about 2 to 3 weeks. Stitches are removed after about 1 week. Eye make-up may be reapplied 1 to 2 weeks later and contact lenses may also be reinserted.
Possible Risks
Possible risks of tonsil eye surgery include mild infection or bruising at the incision sites.
